Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself in more detail. I hope this also gives you a clearer idea of the types of support I can offer you and your children.
I founded Compass during the pandemic, driven by the profound impact of social isolation, especially on young children. I began with something simple—a small bubble maker in a park in Hoboken. From there, I recognized the growing need for inclusive children’s programs, particularly ones that support children with neurodiverse needs.
In 2020, I created a virtual space where kids could socialize due to the pandemic. This led to Compass Academics (now Compass Child Development). We introduced learning pods that helped students catch up and get ahead.
The program grew to offer tutoring, learning pods, and social skills classes. Following on from the success of this, I grew a team of professionals and launched Compass Adventures.
As cognitive development goes hand in hand with physical development, we started Compass Aquatics providing Swimming lessons to the Hoboken Community. I'm proud to say that we were named "Best Aquatics School in Hudson County 2024."
Now, for some details of my background:
With 24 years in early childhood education, I’ve had the privilege of holding roles as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, cognitive behavior therapist, and play therapist. I’ve worked closely with occupational, physical, and speech therapists, gaining invaluable insights into the strategies that accelerate child development. This extensive background of how children learn allows me to design effective and engaging programs. Whether it’s a class, camp, or baby program, every offering is crafted to give children the foundation they need to succeed.
In Fall 2021, I was honored with the Outstanding Leadership Award at the Education 2.0 conference in Las Vegas for my contributions to the education sector.
Summer 2024 marked the opening of our new Clubhouse at 101 Park Avenue in Hoboken, offering a larger and improved space for kids' activities, camps, and a new program: early childhood development—also known as Compass Baby.
The inspiration behind Compass Baby came with the arrival of my own child. Becoming a mom has been an incredibly powerful and transformative experience. It gave me the clarity and drive to take everything I’ve learned and apply it in a meaningful way to not only support my own child but yours as well.
COMPASS Baby focuses on sensory, motor, and language development through membership or group baby classes. The goal is to ensure all babies reach their developmental milestones, with a strong focus on early intervention and neuroplasticity, helping all infants thrive.
Join COMPASS, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. We’re here to support you, and your children, and give them the advantage they deserve.
Best,
Jordanna
